About Therapy

Symbolic representation of Dr. Sylvia Peske walking the path of personal awareness and transformation.

My approach to therapy is both psychological and consciousness-based — a process of understanding, integrating, and transforming the experiences that shape who we are. I view trauma not only as what has happened to us, but as any part of our lived experience that has not yet been integrated and continues to influence our present lives. These unintegrated experiences often show up as emotional triggers, physical tension, anxiety, or patterns that repeat despite our best intentions.

Therapy with me is an exploration of authentic alignment — uncovering what is no longer working, understanding why, and engaging with the parts of you that are ready to evolve. Together, we identify the conditioned beliefs, protective responses, and emotional imprints that may have served you once but now keep you limited or disconnected. This process invites awareness, truth, and self-compassion so that real change can occur — change that is embodied, not just intellectual, and that can occur the instant your system restores coherence.

The Process

Drawing on a number of different psychological principles, many of my sessions involve what I call a processing experience — a guided approach that engages awareness, emotion, and body wisdom together in real time. It draws from evidence-based and depth-oriented modalities such as EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Mindfulness, Hypnotherapy, Somatic Processing, and Emotion-Focused Therapy, as well as, Narrative and Cognitive methods where appropriate. Each session begins by attuning to breath and the heart field, allowing the body and mind to settle into a grounded, receptive state. From there, we focus on a desired intention or what feels most alive or ready to transform, engaging the process intuitively as it unfolds in real time. Clients are guided to access underlying memories, sensations, emotions or thoughts while remaining anchored in the present moment. The session concludes with an integration phase — allowing the insights and emotional shifts to settle into the body’s felt sense of safety and coherence. During this phase, some clients prefer to share and reflect; others remain in silence to honor what has moved. Both choices are valid. Because this process works directly with awareness and the body’s intelligence, it bypasses much of the looping and repetition common in traditional talk therapy — allowing resolution to emerge more efficiently and organically.

Collaboration

Healing is a shared process. Each session is a meeting point between my presence and experience, and your willingness to engage with honesty and curiosity. I bring the structure, intuition, and guidance; you bring your lived experience and readiness to meet what arises. Together, we create the conditions for transformation to unfold.

This work asks for participation, not perfection — a willingness to stay present with what is true in the moment. Healing cannot be done for you; it happens through you. When awareness and participation come together within a safe, attuned space, genuine change becomes possible.
